A Sudden Loss

We started Aurora Avery Arts in 2024 in honor of our daughter Avery, who passed-away unexpectedly in 2022 at the age of 12.

During the first few weeks of our loss, we were inundated with gifts from family and friends, who themselves were struggling with how to show sympathy for such a loss.  As the many bouquets of flowers eventually began to wilt and die, it only reinforced the temporary nature of life.  While well-meaning, we thought there had to be other ways to show sympathy when a loved one passes-away.

While living abroad in Shanghai 10 years earlier, we procured pearls from the various pearl markets that are prevalent in the area.  We realized that like people, every pearl is unique, and beautiful.  The idea of Remembrance Pearls then came to us - a way to give a lasting gift to yourself, or someone you know, who has lost a loved one.  A gift that can be near you always, close to your heart.

And thus, Aurora Avery Arts was born.

Who was Avery?

About Avery

An incredibly creative and artistic person, Avery was constantly sketching and drawing when she wasn't playing Xbox or on her phone.  Her natural talent for using many colors and incorporating perspective into her drawings, she had a budding talent for art that enabled her to express herself which gave her great joy.

Avery was a fiercely loyal friend, choosing to surround herself with people that were as unique as she was.  She was not a trend-follower, but rather had her own eclectic and unique style that set her apart from others.

She was pure magic.

 Avery's Art

While only a small sampling of her many pieces, these summarize her creative and eccentric style.  With a heavy focus on multiple bright colors, mushrooms and countless drawing of eyes, Avery had a special talent that we feel should be shared with the world.
